Environmental Services (EVS) is the non-clinical, highly trained, support service team, tasked with helping to prevent spread of infection in the hospital environment through cleaning and disinfecting of operating rooms, patient rooms, and common areas. This team is a crucial component of the patient care continuum, interacting with patients daily and touching virtually every square inch of hospital space.
This position primarily serves an analyst function as part of the EVS Team and will perform a variety of duties, including, but not limited to intelligence collection, staffing & data analysis, report generation, project & program management, decision support, information presentation, and strategic planning in conjunction with department leadership, colleagues, and business partners.
This position will undertake specific process analysis work in the form a Green Belt project through UCSD Extension.
This position will also join collaborative projects and initiatives with departments across the UCSD Health landscape, including Nursing, Experience, HR, Finance/Supply Chain, Transformational Health, Information Services, Communications, and others.
Successful candidates will exhibit strong communication skills across a variety of mediums and platforms, a desire and intuition for problem-solving, an interest in learning, and the ability to collaborate across various functions and UCSD Health departments to achieve organizational objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with EVS staff and complementary departments to evaluate processes for performance improvement opportunities; identify ideal performance metrics and goals.
- Coordinate discussions and process investigations related to operations; schedule attendees and meeting space, prepare plans and agendas independently and at direction of Leadership, lead meetings and follow-up on action items.
- Generate reports from a variety of systems, perform detailed variance analysis, forecasting based on actuals and operations, opportunity assessments, cost reduction initiative analysis, etc.
- Analyze operational performance data; synthesize key performance indicators (KPI), identify root cause impacts for mitigation and resolution, support operational change efforts and continuous improvement.
- Synthesize data into information to create reporting in support of general communications, change efforts, business case creation, and decision support; report to Leadership.
- Submit financial requests (good, services, funding transfers, purchase order modifications, etc) at direction of Leadership; Purchase order tracking and management.
- Perform studies and use data to evaluate the effectiveness and scalability of staff engagement, training, and development activities; study results to improve with each iteration.
- Actively promote a culture of exceptional customer service; Participate in development opportunities, as work schedule allows.

- Drive collaboration with organizational partners and change management efforts.

- Adhere to compliance requirements.
- Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other office software.
- In-depth knowledge of business intelligence functions, advanced analytics, industry standards and best practices.
- Advanced knowledge and skill in internal databases, BI applications, tools, and systems.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage highly-complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to produce and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
- Advanced interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with managers, professional and technical staff.
- Ability to serve as an advanced technical leader providing advice, counsel, and analysis on business and operational intelligence issues.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Certification in Project Management, Program Management, Lean Six Sigma and/or Change Management.
- Experience working in healthcare or construction.
- Experience working in a heavily matrixed organization.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
