About the Role:Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain commercial packaging experience in the world of biotechnology. As a Packaging Engineer Intern at Neurocrine, you will be immersed in the dynamic environment of our supply chain network, supporting Contract Packaging Organizations (CPOs). you will work closely with our Packaging Engineer and interact with professionals across multiple departments. You will have the opportunity to engage in technical discussions, technical reviews, and assist in the planning, scheduling, packaging, and quality control of production operations. Our intern program offers exposure to commercial packaging operations, lifecycle changes, good manufacturing practices, and operational excellence principals. Assist in gathering and analyzing data related to commercial packaging requirements and packaging component specifications.
Support the team in qualifying and implementing new packaging components and closure systems for finished goods.
Supporting a range of activities, including lifecycle changes and packaging operations.
Assist with component changes, understanding the impact on packaging processes and product quality.
Help with item number creation and management, gaining insight into inventory control and supply chain processes.
Assist in the preparation and review of engineering documentation such as component drawings and specifications.
Actively participate in cross-functional team initiatives, collaborating with various departments such as Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs
Participate in artwork changes, learning about regulatory requirements and brand consistency in pharmaceutical packaging.
Interact with Quality, Supply Chain Planning, and Data Analytics teams within the company, developing a holistic understanding of pharmaceutical operations.
Complete a special project and present recommendations to senior management upon completion, demonstrating problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
Pursuing an undergraduate degree with an interest in biotechnology
Specific degree or field required: Mechanical, Materials, or Packaging Engineering degree
Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
Basic understanding of packaging principles and components.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
Eagerness to learn about cGMP-regulated environments and pharmaceutical industry standards
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think creatively and be a team player
Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
