The Manager: Instructional Program is responsible for overseeing the TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) Scholars program at Desert Vista Campus. This includes managing grant operations, ensuring high-quality services for students, fiscal management, and strategic program planning. The Project Director will supervise program staff, including coordinators, technicians, and tutors, and collaborate with related TRiO programs. The position reports to the campus Vice President, with final accountability to the Chancellor.
The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends.
Continued employment in the position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive oversight of TRiO SSS program activities, procedures, and budget.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate program staff.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote the SSS program and recruit, select, and retain participants.
- Approve participant selection and oversee orientations and workshops.
- Provide personalized academic, career, and personal coaching to participants.
- Maintain and secure participant and program records.
- Collaborate with Pima Community College’s Sponsored Programs for project evaluations.
- Authorize and monitor expenditures to ensure appropriate fund use.
- Prepare and submit fiscal and progress reports to the U.S. Department of Education.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and grant guidelines.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, student services, counseling, or a related field and
- Three to five years of program management or equivalent including experience in: Serving and advising individuals from SSS-eligible backgrounds and Budget management experience and
- One to three years of supervisory experience
or
- An equivalent combination of certification, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Five plus years of related experience preferred including: Experience with grants administration and TRiO programs
- Bilingual abilities
- Knowledge of public relations, marketing, and outreach
- Advanced skills in program development, reporting, and project management
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Proficiency in computers, software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets), and database management
- Familiarity with overcoming barriers similar to those faced by participants
- Leadership and supervisory skills
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation abilities
- Expertise in budget development and management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database platforms, and presentation tools
- Ability to maintain positive relationships and deliver excellent customer service
