Job Summary

The School of Architecture at the College of Architecture+ Planning, University of Utah seeks to fill a postdoctoral scholar position.

We invite applicants who have research expertise in building science, high-performance buildings, advanced building technologies, and resilient design to apply for this position.

The College of Architecture + Planning offers undergraduate and graduate education in architecture, planning, and multi-disciplinary design. This post-doctoral position will be within the School of Architecture and its Transforming Places, Practices, and Pedagogies Collaborative (TP3C) research entity. The School of Architecture offers an accredited Master of Architecture degree, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Science in Architectural Studies. In the last several years, a new integrated curriculum has been developed with a sequence of immersive design studios with integrated courses (technology, research, theory, communication, etc.), building up from bachelor to master to a capstone experience of a student-driven individual design project prepared and supported by architectural research.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of outstanding research, excellent communication skills, and an ability to engage in collaborative projects. For the candidate, the University of Utah postdoctoral position will offer mentorship, training opportunities, and research support infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Playing an active role in the Transforming Places, Practices, and Pedagogies Collaborative (TP3C) research entity and its research projects.

  • Teaching three courses per academic year.

  • Developing and submitting research funding proposals to national agencies and foundations.

  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisor

The appointment will be for two years, and the successful candidate will be assigned a faculty mentor for the duration of the appointment.

A doctoral degree in architecture or a related field is required by July 1, 2024.
