A post-doc is a professional appointment designed to provide recent doctoral degree recipients with an opportunity to gain experiences and skills that will advance their careers. A post-doc works under the supervision and sponsorship of a regular faculty member, who serves as a mentor to the post-doc, and it is expected that the faculty sponsor will provide an orientation and development plan for the post-doc, impart the realities and variety of careers available to the post-doc, and encourage learning opportunities to broaden the post-doc’s aspirations and experiences.
The appointment involves substantial and full-time commitment to research, scholarship, teaching, or other professional activities. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. This posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises.
Interested individuals should submit a current CV, cover letter outlining specific academic and professional experiences relevant for a postdoc research appointment, statement of research interests, and unofficial transcripts. The selected candidate will be required to provide official transcripts from the highest degree-granting institution.
