Job Description
The healthcare studies department is seeking an on-site, full-time, tenure-track faculty member beginning Fall 2025. Teaching assignments will vary based upon the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs, but may include courses in healthcare management, career readiness, public health, academic and professional writing, diversity and cultural inclusiveness, and courses associated with our early college program. The ideal candidate will work as a collaborative faculty member committed to academic excellence, innovation, and student success.

Candidates are required to perform duties in accordance with the MSCA contract. Duties include teaching, advising, scholarship and contributions to continuously improve the department and university. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. The position is subject to available funding.
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate degree (or ABD with significant progress can be considered) in a healthcare related field
- Experience in and demonstrated enthusiasm for full time teaching, internships and field experiences, research, advising, and mentoring of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- Experience in and demonstrated ability to work with a team and collaborate across disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- As an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), Salem State University seeks to enrich the faculty/librarian ranks by actively encouraging candidates whose lived and scholarly experiences directly address issues regarding the health, welfare, and representation of Latinx populations in the United States. Candidates who meet this strongly desired qualification should present documented activities in Latinx-related teaching, scholarship/research, and service, including community-based endeavors in each of these three areas.
- An area of expertise that includes public health, health care information and information systems, health insurance, managed care, practical (field-based) health administration experience, career readiness, or experience working with community-based health organizations
- Demonstrated interest in civic learning and civic engagement pedagogies is strongly preferred
- Experience in and enthusiasm for teaching in a multi-racial, multi-ethnic environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles
- Experience using instructional technologies, teaching face-to-face, hybrid (partially online), remote classes and academic advising
- Interest in working with students enrolled in the early college program
