Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position is located in Rockville, MD at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG).

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) has an exciting new opportunity for a Program Coordinator, Strategic Plan to manage and maintain USG programs, including its signature program — guiding the development and continuous improvement of the student journey from classroom to career.

Through implementation of strategic plan processes, the Program Manager will primarily focus on creation of program management and project management plans, program monitoring, data collection, meeting facilitation, and implementing standardized and ad hoc reporting. This position will ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance within priorities and timelines. For example, those pertaining to industry “hub” sectors will be achieved by facilitating cross hub sector discussions regarding alignment and coordination of activities and initiatives, as well as by creation of synergies among the hubs through administrative program management in support of the Coordinating Council (CC), and the development and implementation of the Innovation Fellows program.

Responsibilities include – developing, managing and scheduling program work plans applying program management tools in accordance with specifications, objectives and funding for industry sectors (Health and Life Sciences, Public Service and Education, Business Enterprise, and Engineering and Technology); serving as facilitator for the Coordinating Committee, overseeing logistics implementation (scheduling, agenda planning, meeting facilitation, etc.). and overseeing the integration of the Innovation Fellows program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university required.

Experience:
  • 5 years of related administrative experience including including experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management tools and other technology tools such as web-based content management systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, set goals and expectations, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible, move between projects, and perform peripheral tasks that need to be done to move processes and projects forward.
  • Ability to engage and lead cross-functional teams, diplomatic capabilities and conflict management skills.
  • Communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to be a self starter and to work independently as well as with a team, detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects., ability to manage multifaceted projects.
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining process documentation.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as business, management, etc.
  • Masters degree.
  • Project Manager Certification.
  • Experience mapping business processes.
  • Experience as a team lead.
  • Experience in higher education or academic setting.
  • Experience implementing strategic initiatives.

Additional Information:

Salary range $72,000-$90,000.
