Position Summary
To provide cleaning and sanitation duties to help keep cleanliness for all guest and employees. Assist with room setups including eating areas and classrooms. Work alongside Facilities team to keep grounds clean and hazard free.
Essential Functions
- Maintain cleanness of all private and public areas and assure cleanliness and organization of room setups for all guests and employees.
- Occasionally performs small maintenance repairs to restroom fixtures and other areas as needed.
- Adhere to all cleaning standards set by Facilities Director. This includes but is not limited to dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing of floors, cleaning windows, vacuuming, emptying trash, etc.
- Keep all custodian work areas and closets neat and clean. Assist in the preparation of venues for events as required.
- Assist in the execution of events as directed by a supervisor.
- Follow a periodic checklist of restroom plumbing fixtures and report to supervisor your findings.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment and advise supervisor when purchases of are needed.
- Utilize and supervise volunteers as assigned.
- Accomplish assigned errands in a timely manner.
- Use protective equipment (i.e. gloves, facial masks, etc.) when using cleaning supplies or spraying chemicals.
- Receives guidance and support, relating to work techniques, from the Facilities Engineer Director, Center Director and RJKCCC Administrators.
- Attend departmental staff meetings as required.
- Follow and adhere to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude with children, patrons, customers, staff, and upper management.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to be able to lift up to 75lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years old and obtain a work permit before hire.
- Must attend and successfully complete The Salvation Army Protecting the Mission Safety Program and training.
- Must successfully complete the Salvation Army's driver safety program before driving and submit to an annual recertification as required.
- Must meet certification and participate in The Salvation Army's Fleet Safety Program.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work without supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Must be able to follow instructions and work independently.
- Ability to reason and problem-solving skills a must.
- Must be willing to work a varied schedule (nights, weekends, etc.)
