Planned Maintenance Quality Assurance InspectorPosition Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector (QAI) to support the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Preventive Maintenance Availability (PMAV) program in San Diego, CA. As a QAI you will perform regularly scheduled surveillance checks to verify that the requirements of preventive maintenance program are being successfully accomplished and provide the level of assessment needed for performance measurement. You will record and keep records of your findings and report to the Program manager on a regular basis.
Clearance Required:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance and be capable of obtaining base access
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) Surveillance Log (PSL)
- Ensure Personnel Qualification Standards (PQS) Training (3M-301) are met
- Verify Work Authorization Form and Tag-out process are compliant
- Possess working knowledge of shipboard systems and operating requirements.
- Monitor the total number of Work orders completed throughout each availability and ensure selected MRCs receive a surveillance check
- Ensure the maintenance personnel have the knowledge necessary for the preventive maintenance work as defined on the MRC
- Initiate, submit and conduct investigation of problems, submit Corrective Action Reports (CAR) and establish effective corrective actions and long-term preventative measures.
- Ensure maintenance is performed safely and correctly
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- At least 10 or more years' experience working on US Navy Ships, Public Shipyard or equivalent military training and/or experience as a QAI
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents and requirements
- Must be highly reliable and capable of meeting work schedule consistently
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of workplace Safety
- OSHA 10 Maritime certified
- Familiar with the following publications:

Physical Demands and Expectations:
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing and prolonged sitting
- Able to work in confined spaces, noisy environment, extreme height, heavy Industrial conditions, high traffic areas, office environment, meetings and multiple locations.
- Must be able to work overtime daily, and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
