The Department of Accounting offers courses to earn a BS degree in Accounting. At the graduate level, the department offers an MS degree in Accounting (MAC). In addition, the Department of Accounting participates in the Poole College of Management’s Master of Business Administration degree and the other degree programs in the college. The Accounting faculty conduct high-quality, impactful research in all areas of Accounting.
NC State’s Jenkins MAC program is preparing graduates to be tomorrow’s leaders in the important and versatile field of accounting.
The program’s curriculum is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of accounting and business practices, as well as a rigorous technical accounting education. Students choose between two tracks, public accounting or business & industry, to meet the needs of their career goals in the accounting profession. Optional concentrations or elective classes can be focused in the areas of Enterprise Risk Management, Information Technology or Tax Strategy.
Essential Job Duties
The Associate Director for Academic Programs will support the growth and success of the Jenkins MAC program by managing the ASAP (Accelerated Summer Accounting Prerequisite) Online Prerequisite Program, which is essential for student success. Key responsibilities include overseeing program marketing, student communication, academic support, course improvement, and financial management.
In addition, this position will help administer other MAC academic programs, including organizing town hall meetings, assisting with the teaching of ACC 600 (Managerial and Career Effectiveness), and coordinating DEI initiatives. The Associate Director will also support MAC events like Orientation, Meet the Firms, and Spring Advising Sessions.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the academic experience and support the growth of the MAC program.
Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Lifelong Learning:

Essential Job Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Lifelong Learning:
- Involved in the planning, execution, and maintenance of the program.
- Works closely with Exec Ed members and contract marketing on the strategy, timing, content and delivery.
- Create an advisory council for Lifelong Learning to receive input from key stakeholders.
- Held 3 virtual events, an all-day in-person event for 2022, and plans for 2023 have already been announced.
- Lifelong learning also has an aspect of technical compliance with issuing CPE certificates in compliance with NASBA.
2. Assessment:
- Manages the assessment for the MAC program:
- This task takes a high level of communication and organization to handle the process’s many moving parts and contributors.
- Create a Moodle space for the open assessments for easier faculty review.
- Move assessments to digital/online submissions for easy sharing and tracking.
- Communicate with the Curriculum Committee and Director on the progress and the final submission of SAC reporting to the Graduate School.
- Ensure all program assessments are up to date.
- Work collaboratively with the MAC Curriculum Committee to establish a standardized rubric for presentation skills in the MAC program.
- Apply the rubric to the presentations.
- Apply AACSB’s latest societal impact standard to the MAC program.
- Working with the curriculum committee to implement learning objectives related to the standard in our assessment learning objectives.
- Work closely with the Accounting Department and Poole College of Management to ensure a successful AACSB renewal process.
3. Data Analytics Bootcamp:
- The Data Analytics Bootcamp was moved into ACC 600:
- This role handles the communication with Arkansas of the request for data access and the textbook for the Data Analytics Bootcamp.
- Create the Moodle space and online learning components for seated and online students, also grades the assignments for this course.
- Future work for Data Analytics will continue and evolve to meet the changing needs of our students.
Other Responsibilities
- Work with faculty to improve the content and delivery of their classes.
- Assist the ERM Initiative in delivering online ERM workshops.
- Develop and implement a MAC Program Annual Report, in addition to the Accounting Department annual newsletter.
- Construct and present interactive sessions/workshops as necessary (i.e. NC State Conference on Faculty Excellence)
- Supporting role in the supporting of the MAC Curriculum Committee (i.e. student surveys, focus groups, etc.)
- If the MAC Program moves forward with the AICPA ELE program, the Associate Director will be a key individual in the development and delivery of the program
Minimum Education and Experience
- Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Commitment to student success.
- Ability to work in a team and establish collegial relationships with faculty and staff and students.
- Intermediate level skills with at least one learning management system (LMS) such as Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard
- Intermediate level skills with at least one video conferencing system, such as Zoom, Google Meet, or WebEx Meetings etc.
- Detail-oriented with organizational proficiency and excellent follow-through.
- Focused on student and faculty success and organization excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant experience working with faculty in a higher education setting.
- Relevant professional certification (i.e. Certified Public Accountant (CPA)).
- Project management experience (including managing time, establishing priorities, distributing responsibilities, and meeting milestones and deliverables).
- High level of independence and initiative.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting.
- Experience work in the accounting profession.
