Job Description
The Johns Hopkins Department of Pediatrics seeks an Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner to join the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine. The clinician will help with the management of pediatric and adult patients in the Chronic Fatigue Clinic, which provides care for individuals with a variety of fatiguing conditions, including myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), long COVID, orthostatic intolerance, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
The mission of the Chronic Fatigue program is to provide outstanding clinical care to adolescents and adults with ME/CFS and related disorders, to perform research that improves our scientific and clinical understanding of these illnesses, and to educate medical professionals and the public about the conditions. The NP’s primary responsibilities will be to provide clinical care (including initial and follow-up evaluations, prescribing, patient education, letters, prescription refills, insurance prior authorizations, responding to e-mails, helping with academic and work accommodations) and contribute to the clinical research mission of the Clinic.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Clinical histories and physical examinations of adolescents and adults followed in the Clinic.
- Triage questions and refill requests on the electronic medical record portal.
- Study and clinical care questionnaire administration, medication reconciliation, and assess health needs of individuals and families.
- Help with research data acquisition.
- Help with maintaining records, writing reports, preparing letters for work and school.
- Sending prescription refills, completing insurance prior authorizations.

- Skilled in the delivery of clinical health services to adolescents and adults.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients, parents, physicians and other health care professionals.
- Good organizational skills. Ability to maintain computerized and paper records and prepare reports.
- Strong interpersonal and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to function effectively in a fluid, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing; Registered Nurse license and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
- MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program
- Active Maryland or Compact RN and CRNP license are required
- Current certifications as an Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner (CRNP-Family Medicine) in the State of Maryland or letter from MBON approving practice as a Nurse Practitioner Graduate while awaiting completing of JHH affiliate credentialing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- BLS CPR certification required: AHA, Red Cross, or Military Training Network accepted.
- Additional experience may substitute for master's Degree, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of acute care RN or PA work experience.
- RN work experience with adults.
