Research Technologist
Job Description
The Wu Lab in the Department of Biology is seeking a Research Technologist to join the team investigating fundamental questions on the structure and function of chromatin, using the full range of biochemical, biophysical, molecular, genetic, and cell-based techniques. This position is for 28 hours per week.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine biochemical, cellular, and molecular genetic techniques and assays with training and general supervision.
- Performs laboratory experiments by following common protocols or with instruction.
- Uses basic science knowledge to learn techniques and methods of the lab.
- Run lab tests and complete measurements assigned.
- Gains problem solving skills through progressive training, understanding of the research and experience.
- Identifies and resolves common problems involved in routine research assays Understands the role of senior lab members and accepts constructive guidance. Increases own skill base and knowledge of lab research and relevant assays

- Train users in standard equipment operation and routine lab techniques.
- Prepare, test and maintain standard lab equipment.
- Perform related lab maintenance, monitor lab inventory and order reagents.
Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of related technology, instruments, and equipment in biochemical, cellular, and molecular genetic
- Ability to exercise professional judgment, excellent written and oral communication skills are desired.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
- Able to work in an active, high performing, multi-tasking environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Agile for working in lab environment.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5, 28 hours a week total.
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
