We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
Job Summary:
This position is designed for individuals preparing for careers as a Police Officer. As a cadet you will attend and satisfactorily complete the Collin College Law Enforcement Academy, qualifying for commissioning as a peace officer of the Collin College Police Department. Responsible for successfully fulfilling the academic and physical training requirements of the Basic Peace Officer course conducted by the Collin College Law Enforcement Academy.This job carries with it the obligation to uphold the mission of Collin College in carrying out the duties of the position. May be required to work either day or night on any, one or multiple shifts with varying days off and on holidays.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend class and complete homework assignments.
- Maintain 80 % or above average throughout academy (prefer 90%).
- Participate in and satisfactorily complete the physical training program, firearms training, defensive tactics program, practical problem solving and academic blocks of instruction.
- Complies with assignments, policies, procedures, directives and instructions given by the Director of Collin College Law Enforcement Academy or the Law Enforcement Academy staff.
- Adhere to rules and regulations of Collin College, Collin College Police Department General Orders, and any other rules and regulations applicable to state law.
- Ensure that academic integrity, both individually/personally and as a member of a class, is continuously maintained.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, climbing and balancing, plus pushing, pulling and lifting. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises, gases and workspace restrictions. In addition, incumbents may be subjected to vibrations, chemicals and oils. Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Frequent physical effort required.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses and Certifications
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license.
Additional Requirements
Must be 21 years or older. Must be a United States citizen or eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Must have an Honorable discharge if prior Military experience. Must be able to pass Extensive Medical Screen/ Drug Testing/ Psychological Exam/Polygraph Exam/Background Investigation.
